Royal vs Aubry in Socialist leadership runoff

Former presidential candidate Ségolène Royal and Lille Mayor Martine Aubry face off in the second round of voting in the bitter battle for the Socialist party's leadership. Royal led the first round with 42.45 % of votes, Aubry won 34.73%.

    Sweden became the 25th of the 27 EU members to ratify EU's Lisbon Reform Treaty. The plan - largely shaped by French President Nicolas Sarkozy - replaces the Euro Constitution which was rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005.

    US media reports say US President-elect Barack Obama is 'on track' to nominate New York Democrat Sen. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state but Democratic officials said the announcement will take place after Thanksgiving on Nov. 27.
